Job Summary
The Factory Manager – Joinery is responsible for overseeing all manufacturing operations within the joinery workshop, ensuring efficient production of high-quality woodwork and custom furniture. This role involves managing production teams, optimizing workflows, maintaining quality standards,
and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day factory operations including production, planning, and workforce supervision
- Oversee the manufacturing of joinery items such as cabinetry, doors, wardrobes, and custom woodwork
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet project deadlines
- Ensure quality control standards are maintained across all stages of production
- Coordinate with design, project management, and site teams for smooth execution
- Monitor and optimize production efficiency, minimizing waste and downtime
- Manage procurement of materials (wood, hardware, finishes) and inventory levels
- Ensure proper maintenance of machinery and equipment
- Enforce health & safety regulations and best practices within the factory
- Lead, train, and evaluate factory staff including carpenters, machine operators, and supervisors
- Control production costs and contribute to budget planning
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing, Wood Technology, or related field
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in joinery or wood manufacturing, with at least 2–3 years in a managerial role
- Strong knowledge of joinery processes, materials, and finishes
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- In-depth understanding of joinery production techniques and machinery (CNC, edge banding, cutting, assembly)
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Knowledge of quality control and production optimization
- Familiarity with technical drawings and shop drawings
- Cost control and budgeting skills
